One strand to other

Image
He asked me once, almost casually, “Why don’t your people cut their hair?” I paused— I looked inward before I looked at him, tracing a story older than my name.    Long roots holding my heritage uptight, the untouched legacy running through centuries' flight,        whispering stories of ancestral sacrifice all day and night. Do you know our importance? asked ,me one hair strand  I was silent- my head bowed instinctively. "We are not just threads, but your history's breath." Naive me, started to reflect upon my mother's teachings, she combed my hair and told me stories, not just stories, but the echoes of my forefathers, Who chose crowns of courage over blades of conformity. Each strand a vow, each knot a prayer, Tied in the rhythm of kirtan and care. She said, 'These are not to be trimmed or styled for show', They are the rivers through which our faith flows. Yet, outside the sheltering arms of my mother,  is the world interrogates my bein...

“The Heaviest Day of the Year"

Image
If they heard my silent cries, if they felt the ache behind my eyes, the intimacy of “if they knew,” a truth too deep for words to shine through— they would build the bridges, cross every tide, swim every ocean just to be by my side, just to make sure their baby girl was alright inside. Sitting alone in my dark room, a day before my birthday, this loneliness inside me grows heavier each passing day; that gut-wrenching pain whispering, if only they were here, because they’d make sure I had a new dress for my day so dear. They never plan surprises well, but they’d still find a way to bring me my favourite cake — sweet pineapple, my birthday’s ray. And the only peace my heart holds close, the only thing that makes me stay, is knowing that if they were here, everything would feel okay. The feeling of “I am someone’s baby girl,” in every tender way —that feeling, that truth, that love… I never want it to fade away. Trembling hands and shivering lips, I left from work a day before ...

"An Unwanted Transformation"

Image
Days when doubt clouded your mind, Months when your best you couldn’t find, Through trials that blackened your soul, Strength will rise from the shadows that took their toll. Not each day was the analogous, they said, But I was being trapped into that viscous loop, yet everyone fled. The demons of my mind screaming out loud, but I didn't know how they could be stopped, Noise that was thunderous enough , To drown out my hope and make me feel rough. For a straight one year, I was not me,   How do I tell that fire was consuming me,  Burning through the core, stripping my will,  a blaze so fierce, I couldn't sit still.  The flames fed on doubt, despair, and grief,  Every spark a reminder, every ember a thief.  I searched for solace, I searched for peace,  But the fire within refused to cease.    How could I break free from this endless fight, When the fire within was both curse and light? Oh man! Oh man! I can't imagine to go through ...

"If you desire to play this game of love with Me (The Supreme One), then step onto My path with your head in hand. When you place your feet on this Path, Give me your head, and do not pay any attention to public opinion."                                                                                    ~Shri Guru Granth Sahib Ji (Page 1412) Which Path is The Supreme Creator pointing out here, is the question that pops up into each and every one's mind; whenever they hear this Hukam (command).  The one liner answer to it is; "THE PATH OF DEDICATION AND RIGHTEOUSNESS" . When your heart experiences Me (The Supreme)  through my creation, When your love for Me is beyond any worldly relation, But you do recognize yours and other's freedom to religion and protect that; When yo...

Who raped our sisters, who were the ones who saw it and kept mum? Who killed the children, who burnt our fathers with flaming tires? Why was your operation launched on 'Gurupurab' Why weren't civilians saved by your army? 150 vs millions was the scenario there, it was when Guru Gobind Singh's words, "It is when I make fight one with one hundred thousand, that will be the moment call me Guru Gobind." that came into life then, Great martyrs of '84 fought for their rights,   the great souls who sacrificed their lives to protect their Guru's chamber. Who led the army walked into our Darbar sa...

HOLA MAHALLA; COLOR OF DIVINE LOVE

Image
Holi!!! A festival you all probably know but when it comes to Hola Mahalla people usually link it with holi and give up to understand the main essence of the festival. Let's dig deep into our glorious history and learn more about this festival. Hola Mahalla; is a Sikh festival that falls on the first day of the month of Chet (month according to Sikh calendar); which takes place in March.  The tradition of celebrating hola mahalla was started by the 10th Guru of Sikhs, Guru Gobind Singh Ji.   But the question derives that what does it mean and how it's celebrated. Here, the Singhs are divided into troops of two, and mock battles are held. During the time of Guru Sahib, he would watch the fights and would bless the Singhs.  Even, nowadays the festival of hola mahalla is celebrated with full enthusiasm in Anandpur S...

HOLOCAUST OF 1921; NANKANA SAHIB

Image
Do you ever wonder why every tyranny; that wants to suppress the wave of Sikhi attacks gurudwaras (a Sikh place of worship)?  Long back, during the days of British rule, the Britishers were also thinking the same. The question that was raised in the British assembly itself, Which power in India is so powerful that it can be a threat to the roots of British rule?  The answer they concluded was Sikhs.   They state,  " The secret of the power of Sikhs is behind their belief in their Gurus and everything related to them. If, and only if their belief in their Guru crashes, they forget the importance of their Gurudwaras (a Sikh place of worship)  and their glorious history of martyrs. Then, they will end; else, there is no more way to end them." This is the mere reason why every tyrant targeted the gurudwaras; the source of the internal power of Sikhs. WHY OF THIS HOLOCAUST: Pondering over the reasons that laid a path towards THE GREAT HOLOCAUST that ever happened in ...
