POEM: A Restless fire

"A RESTLESS FIRE"



"Boys will be boys",
Is the most misused phrase,
Just used to hide the fact,
That this Society has miserably failed. 
Failed to raise their boys,
Failed to make them Realise that their partner or any girl out there isn't a toy.

Yes!! It has failed to tell them what "CONSENT" means,
Failed to tell the meaning of a "NO",
And to stop when your partner says so.

Failed to "NORMALISE SEX EDUCATION",
So, they don't get carried away by its thought in their teens.

Failed to tell their sons that "OBJECTIFYING A WOMAN" in groups is not cool,
Make them understand that "RESPECTING" everyone is a very basic rule.

It's high time!!!
This society needs to change its mind,
A sole person responsible for rape is a rapist,
for harassment is a harasser, and you can't escape it,
No matter; if she is a prostitute, your girlfriend, or your wife,
Just mark my words "CONSENT AND RESPECT" is required.


Burning in this restless fire,
Where the wound of patriarchy is dire,
Standing straight,
Fight hard,
With a belief, that we will change these societal norms.

“The Heaviest Day of the Year"

If they heard my silent cries, if they felt the ache behind my eyes, the intimacy of “if they knew,” a truth too deep for words to shine through— they would build the bridges, cross every tide, swim every ocean just to be by my side, just to make sure their baby girl was alright inside. He asked me once, almost casually, “Why don’t your people cut their hair?” I paused— I looked inward before I looked at him, tracing a story older than my name.    Long roots holding my heritage uptight, the untouched legacy running through centuries' flight,        whispering stories of ancestral sacrifice all day and night.
